Sustainable Student Metacognition Systems
After reviewing our instruction, we often find ourselves wondering, "What on earth are our students thinking?" By building sustainable metacognition systems, teachers can train students to develop habits of mind that promote goal-setting, self-sufficiency, and deeper learning. These systems also strengthen student-teacher relationships by helping educators better understand students’ thought processes during lessons and assessments.
In this session, we will explore strategies for cultivating student metacognition and improving instructional practices based on that insight. We will also discuss methods for effectively analyzing reflection data from large classes, helping teachers make targeted adjustments to better meet students’ learning needs.
